When I became a mom, I gave up getting to the gym. There are just too many moving parts to account for, the drive time, the sitter, the vehicle, the nap schedule, the feedings, the diapers, traffic, weather, class times… the list goes on. That’s why I love these kind of fitness accessories for moms; it is just much more feasible to fit in a 20 min workout at home than the sorcery required to get out of the house.

The Best Home Gym, Fitness, and Exercise Accessories for Moms
Bands are great, very portable, resistant in both directions, and various difficulties as far as levels go. This set has very stylish muted colours as well as removable handles.
Loops are great for glute work, these fabric ones are the best for any type of squatting because they won’t roll up! Again, very portable. The rubber sets similar to these are also so versatile. I’d scope out what your fit mama already has to make sure you buy them the alternative.
Serves as a stopwatch and a timer. Great for tracking mile PRs, and for setting tabata intervals. Such a handy little gadget.
I’m a firm believer you can never have too many water bottles. Wide mouths are best for gulping after strenuous exercise, double walled to keep from sweating in a bag, cute colours and metal for durability – win win win!
These cute little sets of sweat towels come with a wrap strap which keeps them compact for packing, super absorbent, fast drying and silver ion infused to keep bacteria and odour away.
Foam rollers are great for stretching and mobility. An excellent tool for basically an at home massage, a few mins a day with this little guy and your body will thank ya!
I love step aerobics!! But this little step can also function as a short weight bench, great for adding range to plenty of strength exercises, beyond stepping cardio. Dips, high knees, bench press, calf raises, steps ups… we live in a bungalow, so this is the perfect little step to sub in where an at home workout might suggest you use a staircase.
This bench can incline, decline and lay flat. It also folds up to quickly roll away when not in use!
For floor work, to soften a hard surface, protect a carpet from sweat and wear, and simply just to add cushion, yoga mat has many uses beyond yoga. I use mine for every workout. I have one for inside, as well as one for outside, and my kids have one too. To exercise alongside me, as we often use them as picnic blankets, because they are actually wipeable.
Exercise ball is great for core work, as well as just to sit on!
A bosu ball is like a half exercise ball, great to work on balance, if standing on the round side. Can be flipped over and used to engage your core further while doing push-ups – a quick google search will give you endless ideas!
Slamball are a newer product and you use them exactly as they are named, by slamming them aggressively into a floor or a wall for a full body exercise. Also serves as a medicine ball, easily adding weight to any exercise.
Not for working out with, but for post workout. Theraguns are great for sore muscles and loosening up knots. They come with a bunch of attachments each designed to focus on a different muscle group. A good recovery regimen is just as important as exercise itself!
Sliders are for sliding! They are double sided, one side for carpet, one side for hard floor – add them to loads of exercise so your hands or feet never leave the floor. Turns any exercise into a total body workout that is very low impact but highly effective for core development.
Skipping ropes are excellent for cardio, take up very little space when not in use, and depending on who is using it, childhood nostalgia too. The weighted part of this skipping rope adds a bit of resistance, which also helps for smoother spinning, making for an even better workout than a typical rope.
This set comes with 3 different weights, they are vinyl coated to reduce noise and rust, great for lots of movements.
These are pricier, but think of all the weights they replace, the space they save, and the versatility they offer. They have been high on my wish list for years. They are sold in singles, a good gift to split with another, also wrapping them separately is a good way to throw off the gift-getter from guessing what’s inside!
These are adjustable in more ways than one! The weights can be added or removed from the multiple pockets, and they are velcro to fit ankles, wrists of all sizes. They’ll make a daily workout more challenging and effective. Perfect for yoga, walking, running, pool exercise, aerobics, home gym, and physical therapy.
Gloves are great for keeping hands soft and callus free! Also have extra cushion and better grip if you have a mom who’s working on her pull-ups!
A barbell opens up a whole new world of lifts, and can easily be stored under a bed. This one is cushioned and comes with various plates for various weights. Les Milles online has body pump classes you can do at home, this is just the equipment for it.
There are so many other things I can think of when it comes to fitness accessories for moms: Long bands, workout attire, good socks, shoes, pull up bar, boxes for box jumps, class passes for a favourite studio, subscription to fitness app, vr headset (they have vr workouts now!), supplements like protein, pre workout, protein bars.. I could go on and on, but I won’t. Pick something from my top 20 and get gifting!
