Fall is probably my favourite season, and I absolutely love decorating for it. Living out in the country, farmhouse style is pretty much required when it comes to home décor. This is honestly one of my favourite decorating tricks for the fall. While it fits with basically any decorating style, nothing says farm (and farmhouse) like decorating with something you grew yourself.
Even if you don’t have a garden that grows gourds you can still pick them up at most grocery stores in the fall for the same look. Or consider buying from a local farm instead!
Hang a Fall Wreath
Can you even call your home a modern farmhouse if you don’t have a wreath on the door? Real ones look amazing, but a fake one will do just fine. Or you could even consider making your own!
If You Add Halloween Items, Keep it Fun and Not Scary
Some people love to have a scary Halloween, but farmhouse fall decorating should be more about the fall colours and harvest than scaring neighbourhood children.

Dollar Tree actually sells really cute signs, and DIY options or craft sales are always great. But, since there so popular, you can also pick up cute signs just about anywhere.

It’s great if your house looks like fall, but even better when it smells like fall. Don’t be shy about bringing in those fall scents as you put our your autumn decorations. Cinnamon, Vanilla, Pumpkin Spice, and Apple Pie are popular fall smells that you can look for.

- Naturally, by having things that smell nice (eg. Fresh fruit, flowers, etc.)

Don’t Over Decorate
